Hollis Johnson/Business Insider Tesla CEO Elon Musk admitted that selling a $35,000 version of the Model 3 would be a disaster for the company. The base Tesla Model 3 is now planned for deliveries in late 2018 or early 2019. Musk has to do this to save the company from ruin, even if he ends up jilting prospective owners.
